There’s a new addition to the trendy dining scene in Bangkok’s Ratchadapisek district. The Two Forty Eight Café & Bar opened earlier this month and is sure to gain a loyal following for its diverse menu and affordable prices from THB 60 (USD2) to THB 590 (USD20).
Headed by Chef Teekanun Mandachitra, the menu spans the globe with perfectly executed European and American cuisine made from fresh ingredients. House specialties include imported Australian beef tenderloin, authentic Caesar salad, stuffed cheeseburgers, and homemade pasta with a selection of more than 10 different sauces. Of course, they also serve Thai cuisine and a highlight is the pork and herb salad (larb moo tod) served with steamed rice in pandanus leaves – the flavors are bold and the presentation is classically Thai. Remember to save room for desserts like crème brulee or a selection of ice creams made in-house.
The restaurant’s numeric name was inspired by its address and it’s located within the Northgate Ratchayothin Serviced Residence. The 2-level restaurant offers diners a choice of seating in the contemporary main dining room or on the cozy outdoor terrace.
To celebrate its opening, Two Forty Eight Café & Bar is currently offering any diner who spends THB500 (USD 17) or more an opportunity to win dinner vouchers and discount cards to use on their next visit. This opening promotion is offered until December 31, 2010.
Two Forty Eight Café & Bar is open daily from 6:30 AM – 11 PM. Reservations are recommended for dinner and can be made by calling (66) 02 939 7949. The restaurant’s address is 248 Ratchayothin Road, Ladyao, Chatuchak.
